Committee to Elect Michael B. Whiting for Apache County Attorney

Community and Personal Interests

motorcycling in Navajo landPersonality and community involvement ultimately reflect on how an elected official will act in office.  So that you have a better idea who you're voting for, I'd like to share some of my personal hobbies and volunteer activities.

In my free time, I love to hunt, ride motorcycles and spend time with my family. Since I've been a young boy, I've hiked all over the place, exploring nature's treasures.  I thoroughly enjoy Apache County's pristine environment, lifestyle and culture.  Each community and person in Apache County is unique, with much to offer.  I want to preserve this county, its communities and way of life we all enjoy.

I want to protect our community so it is still a safe place to raise children. My daughter is in 4-H, one of the great opportunities available to young people who live in Apache County.  Our public education system is one of the most important factors to a successful future -- both my wife and mother are teachers, so I am aware of many of our school's challenges.  As County Attorney, I will be charged with giving legal advice to the school districts and other branches of county government.  I can assure you that I will not send my child to school outside of Apache County.

I believe in giving back to the community, especially to the younger children. Some of my efforts to do so include:
