Honoring Our Native American Culture
According to the Arizona Department of Commerce, more than 75% of Apache County's residents are Native American. As a matter of fact,
over 65% of Apache County is made up of the Navajo and Apache Indian lands. Our Native American friends are not in the minority,
and they deserve fair legal representation on the county level as well as respect for their culture.
Having lived in Window Rock and St. Michaels, I have made many friends on the Navajo Nation. I worked for the Navajo Nation
Supreme Court, clerking for Chief Justice Robert Yazzie and Vice Chief Justice Raymond Austin. My education and
experience has included training in the Navajo peace making process and study of Navajo Traditional Law.
While my direct experience has primarily been with the Navajo Nation, I intend to respect the traditions and viewpoints of both the Navajo and
Apache people.
