Committee to Elect Michael B. Whiting for Apache County Attorney

Quick Overview of Issues

The following are some of the problems facing Apache County.  These issues, and others, are what prompted me to decide to run for Apache County Attorney.

  • Apache County Financial Troubles
Financial troubles have created a deficit of $1 million in Apache County. We need a county attorney capable of giving sound legal advice in civil and criminal cases. Errors in judgment are costly.

  • The Drug Problem in Apache County
Apache County ranks No. 2 in Arizona for meth use, creating serious long term social and financial problems. As County Attorney, fighting our drug problem will be a top priority.

  • Honoring our Native American Culture
More than 75% of Apache County's residents are Native American. My education includes the study of Navajo Traditional Law. We must respect the legal needs of the Navajo and Apache people.

  • Private Land Use and Zoning Ordinances
Only 13% of the county is privately owned. Land use and zoning ordinaces are a major concern of property owners. The County Attorney must provide sound advice to the county's government branches.
