Candelaria in trouble again?

Date April 15, 2008

Based on his recent comments to the White Mountain Independent Criss Candelaria is already worried he won’t be re-elected. As you may know Michael B. Whiting is running against him for Apache county attorney. In response to the Board of Supervisors not approving the hiring of an attorney Candelaria wanted to hire, last week, he went out of his way to try and disparage Michael Whiting in the paper.

This seems to be the course of action Candelaria intends to take until the election on September 2nd, 2008. Mr. Whiting has chosen not to talk about Candelaria in a negative way, even though Whiting had nothing to do with the decision. When asked about Mr. Candelaria’s colorful past Mr. Whiting simply indicated the voters of this county know Criss Candelaria and the kind of person he is, as they read about his unfortunate decisions in the newspaper every few months.

True to form, it appears Candelaria may make the paper again for an incident, which occurred at the Concho County Club last week. It seems the Sheriff’s office was called to the Concho County Club in response to a situation involving Mr. Candelaria. No charges have been filed to date, but criminal charges may be forth coming against Candelaria. This is not be the first time Mr. Candelaria has been charged with a criminal offense. When asked about this incident and the possible criminal charges facing Candelaria, Mr. Whiting simply stated people have to be held accountable for their actions. If Candelaria did not violate the law then he should not be charged, if on the other hand he violated the law then he should be charged regardless of his position.

poor poor eugene (Candelaria’s middle name), once again
poor eugene, it seems he is having another problem with the people who work for him. nowhere in the article or the comments did i notice any reference to the fact that no one wants to work for him. not very many people like him or can stand him. those who are hopefull enough to hire on don’t last long. eugene seems to run them off. all of the money in the budget won’t make them stay. some times in the real world people go places and do jobs that do not pay the top money. it sometimes is just a quality of life decision. some places are excellent to live so you make concessions to things, those places are rare and apache county arizona might be on that short list.

after all he himself is responsible for a great big part of the money problems in the county. wonder why he won’t give his stash up to help pay for his grant woods bill.

but you know what? the next election will clean up the office. because he has a contender for his job so it’s doubtful he will continue in office.
i myself do not think he will be hard to replace.

    Mr.Whiting,
In the posting above you make this statement “When asked about this incident and the possible criminal charges facing Candelaria, Mr. Whiting simply stated people have to be held accountable for their actions. If Candelaria did not violate the law then he should not be charged, if on the other hand he violated the law then he should be charged regardless of his position.”
Will that same opinion hold true for all Apache County Officials, if they have violated the laws of this state?

Mr. Candelaria is a buffoon this county will do well without. He puts his personal matters well ahead of any concerns of citizens. He is the “Mike Nyfong” of Apache County (referring to his zeal to prosecute the innocent to make a name for himself). Thank you Mr. Whiting for presenting the people of this county with an alternative.

Mr Candelaria, if you read this, please come to court. Some of us have been waiting a mightly long time for your “justice”.
